Project Joy holiday program seeks volunteers

United Way of Greenville County’s Project Joy initiative is looking for volunteers to help fulfill wish lists ahead of the holidays.

As of Dec. 12, Project Joy volunteers had fulfilled the wish lists of more than 400 Greenville County students, while approximately 150 students and families were still awaiting selection. The program collects clothes, shoes, personal care items and other surprises for local families.

“The holiday can be a difficult time for many, especially for the many families in our community who are struggling to make ends meet,” said Meghan Barp, president and CEO of United Way of Greenville County. “Project Joy is a great opportunity for the community to spread some cheer during the holiday season and make a very real, and very personal impact for our families.”

To ensure delivery to families ahead of Greenville County Schools’ winter break, all wrapped gifts must be dropped off at the United Way office by Dec. 17.
